Renal sub station? what a name.

It been a busy week, even when I had the last 3 days off work.

My dad has not been well, ending up with me getting a phone call on my first day off. as I returned from getting equipment checked in Shrewsbury. He was being taken into hospital by ambulance.  A bit weird really, some may even call it ironic, As I was sitting in the drivers seat of a ambulance stopped in a layby to take the call.

They were not letting him have visitors the first night he was in, as they were busy trying to get his oxygen levels back up and his blood sugar levels down. he a diabetic you see.

So I went visiting the father in law, with the Shell. He had a CVA, a stroke for the less medically minded in front of me 5 weeks before. He is getting better, and getting movement back, he is going to need care. but he did before, just ask his wife.

We got to visit my Dad on Thursday, he was still having breathing problems and having aggressive moods, as his blood sugar was still high,  and at one point I had to talk to him like a naughty 5 year old.  But having met many diabetics over my volunteering i am used to it.

Friday was the day we attacked my dads bedroom, as my mum is not in the best of health. clothes everywhere, tablet boxes everywhere, bed half way cross the room.

Its not like my dad is a messy bloke, It was the state he was in, trying to find clothes, then falling a couple of times, knocking clothes and medication flying. moving the bed in the process.

After that we visited dad again, he was more chilled than yesterday but was still confused. On the way back to the landrover, I spotted a electrical sub station call Renal.

Now this got my weird mind going, what if there were others with names for other body systems.  would the one named cardiac, be rhythmicly pulsating with a swooshing heart beat sound. or does the gastrointestinal one, let of gas with a farting noise every so often?

And on that note, I will say

Cold weather and flat ardvarks

 Hi all.

It is cold, very cold. and I have to do bus checks, below is a photo of me checking one in -4C
And before anyone says anything, the vehicles had been de-iced and used before I took the photo. also I'm not fat, that bulk is a polo shirt, a sweater, a fleece and a jacket. Told you it was cold!!

Oh yes, just to prove I have a weird mind, during a game on radio Shropshire Drive time slot, called schools out. where two young kids explain an object and we got to guess what it is, so I guessed "cartoon ardvarks that have been run over by a road roller" It was not right but gave Vicki and Ryan a good laugh.

They also asked for Charles Dickens type names so I suggested  Vicki Archer  could be Victoria Audipenny, or Audio Penny as she does voice work. voice = audio and work = money = pennies. See I do have some logic going on up there. :D

Race for Life - The start of 2012 prep

Hi all

As you can tell from the title, we are thinking about this years Race for Life. you may be wondering why we are thinking about the event in June now.

Jane Bullock, Regional Press Manager for Cancer Research contacted us over using the Story of Kim's illness in a press release to promote Race for Life.

We are really happy to help, It may be a sad ending for us. But if our story helps get some more people raising money for Cancer Research to carry on it's research into treatments, may be we can help spare another family the pain we had losing Kim.

I will post up a link or two showing the press release, when it appears in press.

There is one Question I have for all you ladies reading this

Race for Life, are you going to be part of it?

Till next time Dear Reader, Stay Safe.
